Hit the Trail in Tri-Valley
Tri-Valley is home to 17 parks (15 regional, 1 state, 1 national), making it an outdoor paradise for all manner of sports and activities. As part of the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), which includes than 91,000 acres of parklands. 15 of the 65 EBRPD parks are located in the Tri-Valley, including Dublin Hills Regional Park, which opened in summer 2010.
Especially beautiful in spring when wildflowers carpet the hillsides and dramatic colors of leaves usher in the fall, the region is also home to one of the states most prized ecological treasures, Mount Diablo. This 3,489-foot mountain is a State Historic Site, registered National Landmark and visited by more than one million people annually. Those reaching the summit will enjoy panoramic views that stretch more than 200 miles on clear days.
For biking, skating, boarding and walking without the climb, families can cruise the Iron Horse Trail, which connects Contra Costa and Alameda counties and stretches between Dublin and Concord. It's easily accessible from many of the major cross streets and is also pet friendly. Additionally, with ranching traditions still alive in the region, visitors may enjoy the rolling hills and Mediterranean climate from horseback as well. The Sunol Regional Wildnerness provides guided rides through a stunning part of Tri-Valley.
