Family Fun

Merry Go RoundFrom outdoor adventures to indoor entertainment, Tri-Valley makes for a great weekend getaway, overnight stop, or day trip. Local hotels feature family- and budget-friendly accommodations as well as camping facilities.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
Get the family together for hiking, riding, swimming, horseback riding, picnicking, and more. Tri-Valley is part of the East Bay Regional Park District, which is home to over 97,000 acres of parklands, and one of the states most prized ecological treasures, Mount Diablo. This 3,489-foot mountain is a State Historic Site and a registered National Landmark, visited by more than a million people annually. For biking, skating, boarding and walking without the climb, families can cruise the Iron Horse Trail. The trail stretches more than 12 miles between Dublin and Concord. It is easily accessible from many of the major cross streets and is pet friendly. For a ride back in time, hop aboard the antique trains of the Niles Canyon Railway. Trains take guests over the scenic route of the first transcontinental railroad's gateway to San Francisco Bay.

AMUSEMENT PARKS & ATTRACTIONS
Enjoy hours of entertainment at Boomers! entertainment park while playing miniature golf, racing go-karts, competing in a game of Lazer Tag, or boarding a bumper boat. At Super Franks Fun Adventure the entire family will enjoy Tri-Valley's only glow in the dark miniature golf course, arcades, and restaurant. Parents will enjoy the in-house Starbucks® Café, free Wi-Fi, and multiple high definition TV's to keep up with sporting events. For fun on the lanes, families can visit Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl, or Granada Bowl in Livermore. Between the two, guests will find championship bowling lanes, full-service snack bars, sports lounges, video arcades, and discounted family specials. The biggest names in California theme parks are also only a short drive from Tri-Valley. Load up the kids and head to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom or Paramount's Great America for up-close animal encounters, thrill rides, and live shows. For indoor fun families can visit the area's art and cultural centers, which include museums, public art, cinemas, and theatre.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENTS
Each year families flock from around the state to attend the award-winning Alameda County Fair. This 17-day celebration filled with horse racing, carnival rides and games, exhibits, and concerts, is fun for the whole family. Celebration of the fair's opening starts with a parade through historic downtown Pleasanton, and continues through the week with daily promotions and giveaways. Mayhem of the western kind can be found at the Livermore Pro Rodeo. Parents and children alike will delight in watching team roping, penning, barrel racing, and the widely popular wild cow milking. Visitors on Family Night enjoy free admission and discounted refreshments. If you are looking for horsepower of a different kind, car enthusiasts won't want to miss the Goodguys Summer Get-Together in Pleasanton, or the Hot Summer Nights Car Shows in Danville. Cars, vendors, and live entertainment fuel these festivals with electricity and excitement each summer.
